I feel like I spend half of my life making TARDISes for people.
This is the box of cookies I made for because she determined that Ovid's "Apollo and Daphne" was one of the poems I wrote about in my term paper for Medieval Lit.
(The Sculpey figures are not part of the prize, by the way, they're just for scale purposes. The Davenports* _are_ part of the prize, though.)
* Delicious fudgy chocolate cake cookies with white chocolate chips in, so named because my sisters and I ate a bunch of them while watching The Wedding Date, a terrible movie with at least one redeeming quality.
By the way, if my Hogswatch present comes for me in the mail next week, I might not know about it/be able to let _you_ know it got here safely for a while. Next week is going to be UTTER CHAOS ON TOP OF HORROR ON TOP OF HASSLE ON TOP OF _TERRIFYING_ and I am really, really trying hard not to think too much about it...
I'll tell you more if I ever get my new computer up and running. If I can EVER write with the setup I'm comfortable with and a closed door between me and the rest of the house to cut down on distractions again, I can answer your last two infusions of notes at once and also have a LOT to say about my real life. But, not until then.

Yeah, the title was meant to have an exclamation mark or two in it, but DevArt doesn't really like that so much. Ah well.
I really hope your computer problems are being cleared up satisfactorily. And obviously your other problems, too...

Well, some of my real-life problems are unclearupable. And I think I've just gone through all that beauracracy for NO FRIGGING REASON because the last person who had to get information to somebody, didn't, now it's almost a week after the deadline and the zarking DWS WON'T EVEN RETURN MY CALLS.
Argh.
Anyway. The new computer is here, it exists, I can do a _few_ things on it and my files appear to be okay. (Thank the gods I did a backup on Christmas day, right before it went splot.) But at the moment it has no video drivers except the Windows ones that came with it, no sound driver at all as far as I can tell, and cannot connect to the Internet. I can write things, but not send them, on it, check to see if my pictures are okay, and play a _few_ games. Without sound. That is it, until my brother can fix up the other stuff.
In other news...
--I feel _really_ dumb: What is "Coraline"? I haven't even HEARD of it. Of course, I haven't been in the loop lately, but whenever a friend of mine is all "Yay!" celebrating over something being made into a movie where I hadn't even heard _of_ the book...
--That dollmaker--we also know where _I_ of course tried to go with it (and failed). I do hope to finally get things back to normal so that I can watch the next Who and then YOU can, so that you can fall back in love with the Doctor. (And go on and on and on about a subject I CAN read. I keep getting bits of your spoiler-proofed messages when I try to reply, and can't say anything 'cos I wasn't trying to read it. Example: I never knew you had been fascinated by an article about Star Trek: Voyager before you watched any Trek! And what was the _Sixish_ moment that Ten apparently did? I gotta ask, before I forget to.)
Anyway, I couldn't quite get the dollmaker to...work. How do you get the outfits to actually appear on their bodies? When I click, nothing happens. It just shows an arrow pointing up, for some reason.
Ugh... Nothing like working with the government...
Coraline is a Neil Gaiman book, which, if I'm not mistaken, is still online in its entirety at [link] It's fairly short (about 150 pages), and I think it's worth the read if you get a chance. The film is stop-motion, directed by Henry Selick (who also did Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, and Monkeybone), it's premiering tonight, and the general consensus is that it's pretty damn brilliant. So, y'know, excitement.
I did sent you scans of that article, didn't I? Like, four years ago or something? Maybe? I certainly thought I had, anyway. If not, I will definitely go dig for it next time I'm home.
There's a picture of Ten's Six-esque expression in that packet that didn't work out so well at the beginning of last month, so you'll get it eventually (assuming my zipping issues don't prevent it...) I suppose I could post it on LJ...
If it makes you feel better about my not even seeming to think about making Who characters with the dollmaker, I actually _would_ have tried a few, except I thought you would probably want to play with it, too, and figured Who would probably be one of the things you would want to do. If you click on the little pictures that pop up when you click on an outfit or item, then it will show up. Some of the things have different options where they can be placed (left or right, top or bottom layer, etc), is why there's that extra step. The arrows on the shirts have to do with how they are layered, so the ones with up arrows can be put over the down arrow ones.

And, _duh_, meant to say: We're coming down to the point where, if I'm going to get the Anti-Love stuff sent out before V-Day, I need to start finishing it up. I'm quite happy with my selections, and I think there are something like five of your previous suggestions still on the list from past years? ("Liberty," "Murderess," "Da Da Da I Don't Love You You Don't Love Me Aha Aha Aha," "Broke in Two," "What Makes You Cry?") And I could count "One Night in Bangkok" as one of your picks and include my "alternate" as my 10th track? So that would leave you with four slots that need filling, which could be done in a number of ways - if you've got suggestions that weren't on my list, or if you want to pick from the ones on the list, if you want me to pick from things on the list that you reacted favourably to, or if you just want me to fill it out myself and leave you alone... Just let me know.
I hate that this has all worked out like this, and I wouldn't be trying to push this through without your ability to fully participate, but I've got a list of about 15 people who are going to assume that no Anti-Love disc on Valentine's Day is a function of my being in a relationship and changing my mind about all of this, and we can't be having with that (also, it's the only thing I've planned to give the GFP. Heh...)
